While the host hotels are identified here for most nights, special TT West rates are not offered at most of them. This is because, unlike last year, there are plenty of good nearby alternative hotels to choose from in each city. Most offer discounts for AAA, military, AARP, seniors, people with 6 toes, etc. The host hotel was selected for its value (highly rated by Trip Advisor and below average cost) and location (walking distance to downtown restaurants, shopping, etc.). Group drive arrival and departure each day will be to/from the host hotel. If you stay elsewhere, make sure you are at the host hotel each morning in time for the daily driver meeting.
We are traveling in a peak tourist season (first weeks kids are in school, Fall colors, nice temperatures) so average cost per night is higher than recent years. Also, Saturday night rooms in Boise will be in demand because Boise State University has a home football game that day. The bottom line is there are a lot more rooms available in most cities this year but people plan their trips to this region far in advance so make your reservations for the entire route NOW because rooms are filling fast, particularly in Jackson.
There is no host hotel in Boise, Idaho since the meeting spots for drive departures are not from the hotel. Two hotels are suggested based on different types of location you might desire.
The first is the Hampton Inn Boise Downtown in the center of the city, 4955 S. Capitol Blvd, phone 855-605-0317. Rooms start at about $155 which includes a continental breakfast.
The second is one of the closest hotels to our Monday departure from Audi Boise and adjacent to the Town Square Mall. The Hyatt Place Town Square is at 925 N. Milwaukee St, phone 208-375-1200. Rooms start at about $100 which includes a hot breakfast.
The host hotel in Ketchum, Idaho is the Hotel Ketchum, 600 North Main Street, phone Beth at 970-544-4186 x186. Rooms start at $165 if you call and ask for the TT West Club rate which includes continental breakfast.
The host hotel in West Yellowstone, Montana is the Three Bear Lodge (Goldielocks slept here) at 217 Yellowstone Avenue, phone 800-646-7353. It is a few blocks from the West Entrance to Yellowstone. Rooms start at $190. If you tell them to reference “TT West” they will attempt to put us in the same area of the facility. Each person gets an $8 coupon per day for breakfast in their restaurant which had good food the last time I ate there.
The host hotel in Jackson, Wyoming is the Elk Country Inn 480 West Pearl Street, phone 307-201-7562. Rooms start at about $235 for large 3 bed rooms as the smaller rooms are already booked.
A unique alternative is the adjacent Cowboy Village Resort consisting of individual detached mini-cabins. Located at 120 South Flat Creek Drive, prices start at $235.
Phone 1-800-4 TETONS to make reservations for both properties.
Note that reservations can only be made by phone. If they are full, you can also consider the Antler Inn or 49er Inn which about 2 blocks away and can be reserved using the same phone number. The Antler is the better of the two and closest to town center but all four are an easy walk to the center of Jackson which has lots of interesting shops, restaurants, bars, etc.
